In the Studio

This last year I received some letters from my sister. They took me back to my childhood. Back to the buried, the past and back into old drawings I made in the 1980's. I have believed for a long time that there are seminal events in my life that I return to over and over. Each time I return to an issue I try to move into it deeper or as deeply as is possible for me at that moment in time. Perhaps because my sister had died and I received these letters after her death I felt compelled in a more literal way to review and re-examine old issues. So I returned for a new look at old work. Collaging bits of past drawings into new forms. The spiral of my life continues, passing through old territory in the hope that I can reach a little farther out of the past seeing the present with fresh eyes.
